Documentation
Documenting your work is a chore that many simply do not think about, or try to avoid thinking about. Most often, still, and for the foreseeable future, this means photgraphing the work. That in turn generally means slides. You can get scans and digital reproductions from slides, but it’s surprisingly difficult to go the other way around. This, of course, will probably change, but…
Photgraphing your work is not rocket science, but it does need some equipment, contemplation, a little practice, and some thought to be done well. The general idea here is to get good slides. If you get great slides, so much the better, but we want to quit with the awful slides. I’ve said countless times that a good slide, like a good framing job, can make a mediocre piece look pretty good, while a bad slide can make the best piece look awful.
The process, as I said is not all that difficult. It doesn’t require a lot of monetary investment, but some. You can generally find someone you can pay to do it, but that can be both a hassle and expensive. That being said, here’s what on the site.
