Areas of Research Interest

Topology: Applications of Topology to DNA, Rational Tangles, Viewing a Rational Tangle as the Exceptional Set in an Orbifold, Lens Spaces, Knot Theory, Fundamental Group, Mapping Class Group, Isometries.

Awards and Achievements

Finalist for the Joan Goosetree Teaching award, Fontbonne University, 2005.

Co-author and Co-PI of the first NSF grant Fontbonne has ever received. This grant will support underprivileged mathematics and CS majors.

Nominated for the Joan Goosetree Teaching award, Fontbonne University, 2003.

Received the Al and Shelley Beradino Service Award, Saint Louis University, 2000.

Received one of the six dissertation fellowships given by Saint Louis University in 1999.

Teaching Assistant 1993-1995, 1997-1999. Nominated for Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year, 1994.

Elected to Pi Mu Epsilon, National Honorary Mathematics Society, 1995.

Obtained Saint Louis University's Certificate of University Teaching during my first year as a graduate student, 1993. The portfolio I compiled during the program was put on display as an example for subsequent classes.
